Earlier my friend(ish) made a comment about his aunt.

Something along the lines of how her husband has a really good job so she doesn't have to work, but that she gets bored.

This offended me as a female and as a person, and what shocked me was that nobody understood why.

Okay, some people make that decision for good reasons, fine.

But why for that reason?

If a woman has a really good job do people say her husband doesn't have to work? No. If men live off their wives, society judges. So why do people expect women to do that?

I'm not even sure if this is sexism, it reflects badly on both sexes.

I am on a beach. Just a beautiful generic beach. I am picking up handfuls of sand and letting it fall through my fingers, as the waves carress my feet. Each swell, a hand, grabbing, pulling and letting go, oh so softly. I hear the whisper of the sea, and I close my eyes and listen. Until I realise it is calling me in and the weak pull of the watery fingers trying to coerce me into joining them. "No" I say. Today is a day to be lived.

I'm in a garden. I'm surrounded by dozens of different types of flowers, the names of which I have no clue. But they are beautiful, that kind of beauty that can only nature can produce, truthful beauty. I reach out to the closest flower and I feel the petal, delicate but versatile, like I wish I were. I close my eyes and inhale deeply. Smelling the earthy scent of my surroundings. I feel a contented smile take over my face, just as I hear a faint chuckle. I look up to see a group of my friends.

I walk over to them and hug each one. The one who is more beautiful than she will ever know. The one who is always there when I cry. The one who has so much love in her. The one who has my heart. The one who can always know what to do with me. The one who is so amazing. The one who has taught me. The one who has been there through my darkest times and hasn't realised. The one who changed me.

I'm on a road. Alone. No cars. No people. It has rained recently. I can smell it on the cement. I have running shoes on and I set off. I pump my legs and my heart follows suite. My entire body is alive and I'm panting. The breeze cools me.

Life is perfect. I am myself and that is all. Today is a day to be lived.

Marie stumbled through the automatic door, blonde curls escaping her bun and falling to her face, landing on her exquisitely defined cheekbones. Radiohead - Gagging Order
I think its safe to assume that most people who listen to music of any kind know at least a couple songs by this band. Perhaps one of the most influential, original, and (r)evolutionary bands of our time, here plays a beautiful and little known song by Radiohead. From an EP originally released only in Japan, Australia, and Canada (three wonderful places by the way), called COM LAG (2plus2isfive). It was then later officially released in Britain and the US in 2007, though we definitely bought the import from Record Breakers when it came out in ‘04. Thom Yorke is a songwriter with a truly gifted mind, continuously experimenting vocally and lyrically, and remains one of my favorite artists. I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do.

Merry Christmas!!
Despite my atheism, I [heart] crimbo. It brings people together ~~with food~~ and makes them happy. I rarely get to spend time with my bro and sis, so it's nice to see them around this time.

I find it so hard to sleep on Christmas eve, but I s'pose it's not just me, though this morning was the first time in a while that my dad was up before me on Christmas morning..was nice... could be a sign of my old age =S

So, I haven't posted in a while, exams and revision have had me wiped out.

Yesterday I asked myself a question, why am I always trying to do something I can't?
And then I moped for about an hour and forgot. NCIS can make you do that (forget not mope).

But just so you know I am not going to stop trying to improve, just because someone who [wrongly] believes himself to be great at what he does, tells me I am bad at what I do.

And ya know what? I am going to get better, faster.
